Why do we blame our environment for our weight gain, depression, and other ailments when the truth is that it shapes our health. Why are we all blaming the rich for not buying into the obesity epidemic or the overweight college student for their lack of social lifestyle? Our environment shapes our entire health. But most of us are blissfully unaware that our environment is making us sick.

The shape our health takes is determined by what we put in our bodies. The foods we eat and the amount of exercise we get determined how to shape our body takes on the food that we eat and how much energy we need to fuel our daily activities. The modern-day American diet is severely unhealthy with too much fast food, processed foods, and lack of exercise.

Our sedentary lifestyle also contributes to our shape our health. We spend far too much time at work and our sedentary lifestyles keep us from getting the exercise we need to remain fit and healthy. Although our environment shapes our health in a variety of ways, the good news is that many of these environmental toxins are becoming less harmful to our bodies every day. For example, fresh produce and organically grown foods are now far more common. This means that there are more green vegetables and fruits, and fewer chemical additives and pesticides.
