Lexus announces the UX for the new year!

The front of the production version of the new 2022 Lexus UX still has the family spindle grille, the headlights are more traditional in design and do not feature the flaring angular headlights of the concept car. The rest of the new 2022 Lexus UX also has softer lines, not as angular as the concept car, and a more open cockpit with a wider view. This release is part of the F Sport model, and the standard UX is expected to have a different grille design, as well as mirror caps that may be body-colored (pictured with two-tone mirror caps). Lexus says that the new 2022 UX will be built on a new production platform – most likely Toyota’s TNGA platform, from which the Prius, Camry and C-HR are derived.

The UX 300e is the first electric tourer from Lexus, and Lexus’ distributor, Hetai Motors, has also announced a new model range for the New Year UX on its website.
Firstly, in the petrol version, the UX 200 F Sport version has been removed and the higher-end UX 200 F Sport Power Edition has been retained, while the petrol models are the Elite, Elite Plus, and F Sport Power Edition. The performance of the 2.0-litre hybrid powertrain has been improved from 178 hp to 184 hp, while fuel consumption remains at 21.7 km/L.

The new UX 300e comes with BSM Blind Spot Detection, RCTA Rear Cross Traffic Alert and RCTB Rear Cross Traffic Brake Assist as standard. In terms of equipment, the BSM Blind Spot Detection and RCTA Rear Flow Alert, which were standard on the UX, have been withdrawn from the 2022 model year and only the newly launched UX 300e model comes with BSM Blind Spot Detection, RCTA Rear Flow Alert and RCTB Rear Flow Brake Assist as standard.

Lexus has also released an official video of the interior, which shows the new 2019 Lexus UX, like the rest of the brand’s models, with a large display above the center console and entertainment information systems that can be controlled via a touchpad located to the right of the gearstick lever. In addition, the button layout looks much more streamlined, with the entire center console design leaning slightly towards the driver. The new 2022 Lexus UX is expected to go on sale later this year, with a new hybrid version expected as well as a petrol version with Toyota’s new Dynamic Force engine.
