It was only last week that we got a first look at the upcoming BMW X6 exterior. However, this isn’t the only coupe-style SUV BMW is revamping. spy photos show that the high-performance BMW X4 M will have trouble keeping it from looking stale and blocking out new competition. Fortunately, the X4 M isn’t protected by a big grille like its 4 Series sibling at the BMW X4 Price of RM 398,800.
Now, our spies have caught a prototype of the regular BMW X4 variant that has been proven in some harsh cold weather testing.
The front camouflage can’t hide the X4’s redesigned LED daytime running lights, which have been removed from the updated BMW 5 Series. The polarized headlights help modernize the X4 and the grille has been redesigned, but it won’t be as big as the clunky grilles fitted to the new 4 Series, M3 and M4.
As development continues, we also expect the X4 to come with an updated bumper featuring redesigned air intakes. Since the prototypes have been parked, our spy photographers have been able to get up close and personal with the new X4 full-fledged machine.
Close-up shots show that the cabin will be upgraded with a fully digital instrument cluster, larger screens for the infotainment system and a redesigned gearshift. It’s unclear if there will be any changes under the hood, but the current BMW X4 comes with either a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine that produces 335 hp and 331 hp in base models, or a 4.4-liter twin-cylinder turbo. In the more powerful M50i, the turbo V8 engine is rated at 523 hp and 553 lb-ft.
